Notes for George Blaine:

George Blaine, another Revolutionary War DAR ancestor, gave supplies to the military. The DAR Magazine January 1994 lists Lucy as his second wife, and shows PSVA = private service (furnished supplies) from Virginia. He gave beef to the Government during the War, May 1782.

It is possible that George was born in England, not Virginia. He came to the colonies with his brother, Alexander.

George Blaine was married twice, and had nineteen (19) children in all.

He bought property in Albemarle County, Virginia in 1758. The oldest child by his second wife was named Nathaniel. The youngest child of the nineteen was named Alexander, and a son John came between Nathaniel and Alexander. There were also a number of daughters.

In his will, George Blain requested that he be buried "at the side of my Dec'd wife Lucy Blain". His will dated March 18, 1802, having a codicil dated Jan. 13, 1805, and being probated Feb. 4, 1805, in Albemarle Co., VA.

Notes for William Hamner:

William Hamner, born 1730 at New Kent Co., VA, gave supplies to the Revolutionary War, thus is qualified as an DAR Ancestor. He and wife, Elizabeth Hen(d)ley had eleven children.

William was the fifth son of Nicholas Hamner, Jr. who signed the Albemarle Declaration of Independence at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Nicholas was born 1703, in Middlesex or James County Virginia. His father Nicholas Sr. was from Wales, and came to Virginia prior to 1680.

World Family Tree Vol 3., Pedigree # 5683 states that William Hamner was a friend of Thomas Jefferson and played fiddle duets with Jefferson.

"A Brief History of the Hanmer/Hamner Family in Wales & Colonial Virginia" by Dr. James Edward Hamner III and Catherine Anne Clark Hamner, published in Memphis TN 1991 states that William Hamner was born c. 1710 in James City County, VA and died in Albemarle County VA in January 1788. Patriot in the American Revolutionary War. A Hamner cousin online gave me Dr. Hamner's address, and I bought a copy of this book in Feb. 1999. I telephone Dr. Hamner at Sewanee TN where he currently lives, and had a good visit with him. William Hamner was a Patriot in the American Revolutionary War.

Nicholas Hamner III was the son of Nicholas Hamner Jr. He died in Albemarle County, Virginia. His first three sons, Robert, Henry and William, were born in York County, Virginia. Nicholas was born in Albemarle Co., Virginia. Probably John and James were born there, too.

Page 5 of The Hamner Heritage says there were probably four daughters born to this family, but names are not given.

Robert Hamner's wife was Elizabeth ?. His will was dated October 02, 1750.

From Mother's notes: Nicholas Hamner Jr. was born in Middlesex or James Co., VA., in 1703. Died 1793/4 albemarle Co., VA. Signed Albemarle County Declaration of Independence April 21, 1799. 10 children, William, Robert, Henry, John, Nicholas, one other son and four daughters.
