PUBLIC AFFAIRS UPDATEAnn Knox, Chm. Subject: The World War II Registry of Remembrance GOOD NEWS ! The World War II Memorial planned for Washington D.C. is underway. This memorial is a long overdue tribute to the men and women who helped win that war. At the Memorial there will be a Registry of Remembrance on permanent display that will list the names of those who helped win the war for America. We want every Tennessean who served or helped in the war effort in any way to be included in the Registry. We are asking club women across the state to make the forms available in their area. All that is required to be included is that someone fills out the form and mails it in. Let's be sure that no one is left out. (Make copies of the form found on the opposite page.) Thanks for your help ! Ann Knox GFWC of TN Public Affairs Chair PS. Dont forget to report your efforts under Public Affairs: Special Projects National World War II Memorial Campaign.

It was good to see so many of you at the three regional meetings this fall! I hope you all got your club packets and took note of the treasurer's notes on dues and donations along with the updated treasurer's report form. Just to remind you, here are a couple of important dates:
December 1 - early deadline for dues
for points on scoresheet!
GFWC of Tennessee has set up a 9-11 Disaster Fund of our own, the proceeds of which will be donated to the America's Fund for Afghan Children. If you wish to contribute either individually or as a club, please mail to me, and these funds will be sent to the fund at the end of December. Please join us in this effort with a show of unity from GFWC of Tennessee that demonstrates the compassion our clubwomen have in their hearts!
FYI - again, for those of you who have clubhouses or other sites relevant to women's history who may be interested in obtaining funds or advice on preserving those sites, the organization we spoke of at the regional meetings was WOMEN'S PROGRESS COMMEMORATION COMMISSION. For information contact Suzanne Gould, Director of the Women's History and Resource Center. (There is some information on this commission in the August/September issue of GFWC Clubwoman, page 11.)
Also, we still have $150 outstanding checks from the student poetry winners from spring convention in April. If your club had one of the winning students, please follow up with your winners and see that these checks get cashed. We need these checks to go ahead and clear the bank to clean up bookkeeping.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call!
