Susan
Speaks -- GFWC of TN President

What fun the State Regional meetings were! I enjoyed visiting across
the state and seeing so many Federation friends. The new format,
for fall of the second year, was an experiment, and one that could
be classified as a success. The GFWC of TN Executive Committee was
able to interact with more club women than attendance records show
attended a second year fall meeting (that required an overnight
stay and more expense) for the last three administrations.
The regional meetings provided a good leadership
development tool for members of the Executive Committee to have
experience in planning and carrying out a larger meeting. It was
also a valuable tool for letting you see the expertise of your officers.
Many of these ladies have endorsed for state office for the next
administration. Those of you who came to your meeting were able
to see them in action. This will enable you to be an informed voter
at the spring convention.
Information presented was a direct reflection
on requests from you about areas that needed clarification. The
bonus was the new GFWC information that also was ready for your
action. I wish I had known that the GFWC Clubwoman magazine would
have been received prior to the regional meetings. The last issue
had so much valuable information that we kept referring to and I
hope you have taken the time to read it from cover to cover. I encourage
each of you to get your own subscription for only $6 per year. The
club president receives a complimentary copy, so make sure she shares
with club members.
Important dates to make sure are on your
calendar for the new year include: Day at the LegislatureMarch
6th and Spring convention at the Radisson at Opryland April
19-21, 2002. Our first annual Day of Service (a time for club women
from across the state to stand shoulder to shoulder doing a service
project) will be held prior to the opening of Convention on Friday,
April 19th from 10 AM to 3 PM. Transportation and lunch will be
provided. More details to come in a later issue of TFNews. Just
mark the date and be thinking about women helping women
.At this critical time in all our lives,
take time to be thankful for your many blessings and our Federation
friends. God Bless. sbm
