You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Dear Fellow GFWC Members,

GFWC members in communities across the nation are sharing common feelings of shock, outrage, sadness and concern in the aftermath of Tuesday's attacks on America. As clubwomen, volunteers and community leaders, I know that many of you have already committed time, energy and other resources to the relief efforts in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The General Federation of Women's Clubs has established a Disaster Relief Fund to aid the relief and recovery efforts. All monies contributed to this fund will be presented to the American Red Cross as a collective representation of financial support from the clubwomen in this country.

GFWC members, clubs, districts or state federations wishing to contribute to this Fund should make their checks payable to "GFWC" with a designation on the front of the check for the "Disaster Relief Fund". Checks should be mailed directly to GFWC Headquarters, attn: Disaster Relief, 1734 N Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036.

Many of you have called inquiring about members in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. We will notify you of what we learn, as information regarding those members and their families becomes available.

Thank you for your support, dedication and choosing to make a difference each and every day.

If you have any questions regarding the Disaster Relief Fund or if we can assist your club in anyway, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Most sincerely,

Shelby Hamlett

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

My Wish For You
Comfort on difficult days,
Smiles when sadness intrudes, Rainbows to follow the clouds, Laughter to kiss your lips, Sunsets to warm your heart, Gentle hugs when spirits sag, Friendships to brighten your being, Beauty for your eyes to see, Confidence for when you doubt, Faith so that you can believe, Courage to know yourself, Patience to accept the truth.

GFWC Brentwood Woman’s Club MICKEY BEAZLEY
Nominated for Strobel Innovator Award

GFWC Brentwood Woman’s Club member Mickey Beazley was nominated this year for the Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer of the year award. Mickey and her sister-in-law Ann Krenson were finalists for founding the Hospital Hospitality House in the mid-1970s after her son was in a life-threatening accident. Mickey saw first-hand the need for a Hospitality House. Mickey and Ann were the driving force behind this project, and thousands have benefited. Mickey also volunteers for St. Thomas Hospital, Rebirth Head Injury Support Group, Rochelle Center for Rehabilitation, Cheekwood, Holy Family Church, GFWC Brentwood Woman’s Club and was outstanding citizen of the year for the Sertoma Club in 1983.

Mickey and her husband Raymond celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 22, 2001.
