Board of Directors Meets at Cookville September 22, 2001
The Cookeville TN Holiday Inn was again the site of the GFWC of Tennessee Board of Directors, who met on September 22, 2001. 51 members pre-registered and 47 attended. President Susan Martin and Director of Junior Clubs Della Gowan welcomed the group. Corresponding secretary Ann Durall distributed Handbook supplements. Right: Tana Sowell, HOBY Chairman accepts the GFWC award for Tennessee which was presented at the International Convention in St. Paul, Tennessee has a record of 17 years of winning the award. GFWC of Tennessee won many awards at the International Convention in June at St. Paul MN. President Martin presented these awards during the Board of Directors meeting, and will be presenting them again at Regional Meetings in October. GFWC of TN is supporting Libraries 2000, and each member is asked to bring a book to her Regional Meeting .
Southeastern Region meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8-11, 2001 at The Homestead, Hot Springs, Virginia. GFWC second vice president Jacqueline Pierce will be the special guest speaker at the GFWC of TN convention at Nashville in April. Recommendations from the Board were Board of Directors Meeting The GFWC of Tennessee Board of Directors elected the nominating committee at their meeting at Cookeville on September 22nd. Serving will be: State Officer Karen Lewallen, 960 Hyndsver Rd., Martin TN 38237; District President Margaret Colby, 4343 Lebanon Rd. # 1003, Hermitage TN 37076; State Department Chairman Mary Lynn Bales, 3475 Fish Hatchery Rd., Morristown TN 37813; Committee Chairman Nancy Patton, 509 Stone Blvd., Tullahoma TN 37388; Junior Board Member Della Gowan, 23313 Shawn Dr., Maryville TN 37803. The Nominating Committee will meet at the Holiday Inn in Cookeville on Nov. 17, 2001. Serving as alternates are Sandi Lindeman, Cindee Barbarito, Tana Sowell, Laurel Carp and Ann Leatherwood. Endorsement forms are found in the GFWC of TN Handbook/Directory, page 122. Forms must be submitted to Parliamentarian Mable Westbrook, 4160 Hwy. 70 East, Lenoir City TN 37772, prior to November 15, 2001, according to the directions in the Handbook. No name may be placed in nomination for an office without prior endorsement from the club and district of the nominee. BE SURE to follow the guidelines for completing the endorsement forms, and give your nominating committee a large group of endorsees for offices. |
