She is also active in the Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and sings in her church choir. She is a member of the DAR, Memphis Germantown Art League, Memphis Poetry Society, the Greater Memphis Square and Round Dance Association and the National Association of Retired Postal Inspectors. Before becoming a widow, she was married 48 year. Mildred and Howard had two children, a son in Minnesota and a daughter in Germantown. Both children are married and each have four children. A talented artist, she attended John Herron Art Institute, Art Instruction, Inc., The Cincinnati Art academy. Her interests are watercolor painting, genealogy, reading, travel, poetry, playing the accordion and taking ballroom dance lessons.
