Club President Jane Wilson, assisted
by Shirley Casey, conducted a candlelight observance as a memorial
for our deceased members for 2004: Mildred Carter, Mary Katherine
Steele, and Idabelle Neumann.
Each member gave over 50 years of service to GFWC. They are missed.
The program that followed provided a sophisticated report on urban
forestry presented by a newcomer to the community, John Watkins, landscape
designer. Mr. Watkins' experiences in the state of Virginia and Georgia
covered the care and development of private and public areas. He spoke
reverently about the care of our hardwood trees, and the need to replenish
them when they are lost .
He was introduced by the club conservation chairman, Lois Mclean.
It was a fitting program for the day, officially Earth Day.

is being selected to attend the Tennessee Leadership Conference. Members
brought items to the meeting to be given to those in attendance.
Joy Kriesky of the Scholarship Committee announced that Megan Rowlett
