Chattanooga, Tennessee
Room In The Inn

GFWC Valamont Woman’s Club donated $1,000 to the Chattanooga Room In The Inn. The Inn began in 1988 and is a 90 day non-profit residential shelter for homeless women and women with children. Services provided at the Inn are free of charge and include shelter, three meals a day, health care, life skills training, parenting classes, assistance with finding affordable housing and intensive case management services. The 24 hour a day program allows the women and their children to find stability and increase their opportunities and chances for independence when they leave the program. The 14-year old program has served 2500 homeless women and children. The Chattanooga Room In The Inn recently moved to a new facility that is a renovated 6500 square foot building. The $1000 donation from Valamont will be spent on window treatments for the resident’s rooms.

Valamont is a long time supporter of Chattanooga Room In The Inn.

GFWC Valamont Woman's Club presented a $1,000 check to Chattanooga "Room In The Inn". The gift will be used for window treatments for their new facility.

Congratulations to the WINNER -
Ann Durall

Pictured here is the photograph that Ann Durall took of her grandson, Cory Durall, with his friend Caleb Chambers. Both boys live in Rome GA but the picture was taken in Farragut TN's Anchor Park.

Right: "Cory and Caleb" - Ann Durall's Winning Photograph

The picture was entered in the 2002 Art Contest at Ossoli Circle prior to the Spring District Meeting in the "portrait/personality" division. After winning, it advanced to the District competition and winning there, advanced to the state competition.
The picture won 1st place last spring at the GFWC of TN Spring Convention in Nashville TN. It was the responsibility of the photographer to send the winning photo to the national competition which was held in Kansas City MO in June of 2002. It received a second place and a monetary award of $100.00 along with a certificate from GFWC.

The picture of Cory and Caleb is in the current edition of Clubwoman magazine, page 16, and is featured in the 2003 GFWC calendar as the June photo. The original 8x10 photo has been sent to Cory along with all of the ribbons.

All of you GFWC of TN photographers! Select a picture taken this year, 2002, and enter it into GFWC competition. Check the GFWC Art Department Program Book for the details. This is one of the many fun things that is provided by your membership in GFWC.
