Lana's Letter

Before I offer you greetings and updates, I must tell you THERE ARE MAJOR CHANGES IN THE HOBY PROGRAM that will be addressed elsewhere in this publication. (Pages 5 & 9) Please pay close attention to this information. Now --

What a great Fall Conference we had in Manchester. I am so pleased by the positive response I have had from all who attended. Those who were unable to join us missed a wonderful time and we missed you. My sincere thanks to each who attended and to each who helped make the Conference such a huge success. Just by attending, you contributed to that success, but there are some special thanks I must offer.

Sandy Lindeman did a superb job of chairing the conference but insisted I not apologize publicly for forgetting to include her name on the program as chairman. I did not promise her, however, that I would not make my apology elsewhere; so here it is.

My thanks to each chairman who conducted a workshop. Your preparations were superb and your presentations enlightening and informative. Likewise, thanks to each club that donated baskets for the “Dollars For Delegates” auction. Their sale raised over one thousand dollars. I think that must be a record. The sale of our fund raising items (the heart pins, the display easels and the gold ornaments) amounted to one thousand sixty-five dollars. Those, coupled with the percentages from The French Shoppe and Ruth’s Designs, made a huge dent in the amount needed to meet our proposed fund raising budget line.

Of course, there will never be a sufficient way to thank Tana Sowell, Ann McDonald and Sandy Calvin for the assistance they give me every day. They are always there to be my legs and hands and sometimes they have to take over and be my brain when it just will not work anymore.

Hopefully, those who are supposed to receive the GFWC of TN handbook have done so by now. Tana Sowell, our Corresponding Secretary, worked diligently for days preparing the book and the long hard hours of labor paid off. They are really, really nice and the printing came in way under budget, so we were able to purchase the binders for you. Kudos to Tana for a job well done. Incidentally, there are some extras for sale for those who are not on the assigned receipt list but would like to have one anyway. You may contact Tana or I will be bringing some with me on the District Tours.

I am now beginning the District Tours and look forward to visiting you there. Due to three Districts scheduling their meetings on the same day, I will not be able to attend Districts I and II on this tour, but will plan to do so in the Spring. I will miss having the opportunity to see the members in those districts and to tell you about our new projects and programs. However, since there is only one of me, I cannot be at all three. Please understand.

Thanks again for all you do. Every single thing, large or small, makes a difference in somebody’s life.

In Federation Love,

Lana
