Dear Federation Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I write my first e-GFWC newsletter as your International President. Words can not express the pride that I feel in serving as President of this great organization.

Since my Installation in Kansas City, we have been busy launching the administration. There are so many terrific programs, projects and membership benefits to be excited about it is hard to know where to begin.

One very exciting achievement was the Board of Directors approving a new comprehensive three-year strategic plan. The 2002-2005 GFWC Strategic Plan outlines six major issues facing our organization and provides a roadmap for working toward the goals we have set forth. An article regarding the Plan will appear in the next issue of GFWC Clubwoman. Please review it and share it with fellow members. And, know that you can contact Headquarters for a copy of the complete Plan at any time.

I am also thrilled that we are able to offer our clubs small grants for their local literacy, women's health, community improvement and women's financial information programs. Look for more information on these grants, the application process and how your club can participate in our magazine and at the upcoming Region Conferences.

Speaking of the Region Conferences, are you planning to attend? Each of our eight Regions are holding their annual Conferences this Fall. Not only do they provide opportunities to travel, meet new friends and experience another community but they are chock-full of wonderful training. Come join us. GFWC President-elect, Ernie Shriner, and I will be visiting each region. Learn valuable information on women's health, hear updates on our exciting new LEADS program and GFWC Mentors, take home critical information on membership and leadership, enjoy a motivational speaker and have lots of fun. Don't miss out. We hope to see you there!

Save the date and start making plans to attend the GFWC International Convention, June 28-30, 2003 in charming Little Rock, Arkansas. GFWC Convention Chairman, Lucy Tolson, GFWC Meetings/Conventions Director, Natasha Kalteis, and I just returned from a planning visit to The Peabody Hotel in Little Rock - host of the 112th GFWC Convention. The hotel recently underwent a major renovation. The facilities are lovely and the Arkansas clubwomen are ready to welcome you. Mark your calendars today!

Finally, I ask each of you to reach out to a friend, neighbor, co-worker or relative and invite them to join your club. As we approach the holiday season, remember that offering someone membership in your club is truly a gift. Can you imagine a finer compliment than to invite someone to be your friend, join you in your volunteer service and reap the many benefits of membership in GFWC? Please reach out and ask.

Sincerely, Judy Lutz, GFWC International President
