GFWC Stones River Woman's Club
To bolster relief programs supported by America's Fund for Afghan Children, President Bush and the American Red Cross put out the call for the nationwide donation of 2000 school chests. These school chests will help youngsters in Afghanistan displacement, earthquakes and poverty. Members of the Stones River Woman's Club International Affairs Department worked together to assemble the required items for the school chest. Their chest will furnish basic school supplies for up to 40 children and will be one of the 2000 chests arriving in Afghanistan sometime this summer. Through
the American Red Cross School Chest Program, community groups, such
as the GFWC stones River Woman's Club in Donelson, recently had the
opportunity to provide school supplies to Afghan children whose lives
have been disrupted by war, natural disasters and economic upheaval.
