Judge Gale Robinson, Jr. speaks at GFWC of TN FALL BOARD in Manchester

Members and guests of GFWC of Tennessee were privileged to hear The Honorable Gale B. Robinson, at the Saturday night Dinner at Fall Board and Conference. Judge Robinson's topic, "Domestic Violence - It's NOT a Volunteer Thing", was well received by GF of TN members in attendance. His very timely subject was addressed from the point of view "from the Bench", as he related statistics and incidents with which he has had contact.

Judge Robinson has served for more than 12 years in the domestic violence area of the judiciary in Nashville. His examples and statistics were heart-rending, His explanations of these situations of domestic violence, both verbal and physical, serve to make us more aware of the importance of the new Save Our Sisters (SOS) program, which is chaired by past-GF of TN president Sherri Carroll.

Fall Board and Conference was filled with new information, programs and project ideas. The exhibits for each Department were excellent, with materials available for each member.

Kudos to the Silent Auction committee. The baskets donated by clubs were not only beautiful, but raised over $1000.00. The Fund-raiser items (heart pin, easel, gold filigree ornament) brought in over $1000.00 as well. The French Shoppe and Ruth's Jewelry added about $1000.00 to the coffers of GF of TN. Congratulations to everyone on this successful Fall Board and Conference in the delightful Manchester-Coffee County Holiday Inn Express and Convention Center. The ambiance, amenities and the meals were exceptional, and well-received.

Workshops at Fall Board and Conference

IF you didn't attend the Fall Board and Conference at Manchester, you were missed AND you missed an outstanding series of workshops presented by Laurel Karp - GFWC President's Special Project "Count 10 for Kids"; Ann Durall,- Reporting; Della Gowan and Sandi Lindeman - Leadership; Emily Binkley - "Cops and Readers" project; Kay Barlow - LEADS, Sherri Carroll - SOS; Isabel Edmands - Protocol and Iva Hitchcock - Parliamentary Procedure. Each one provided members with a wide variety of information and ideas to take home to their club members. Emphasis on materials available in each department gave many members a new source of information. Sue Arnhart, Arts and Crafts chairman, told about new projects in this department. Read your handbook to learn about all the exciting things happening in GFWC of TN.

President-Elect Mary Love Coley and past Director of Junior Clubs Della Gowan presented the GFWC awards won at the International Convention 2002 in Kansas City. (see last issue of TFNews for details).
