REPORT TIME! ......REPORT TIME! ......IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN!......

Congratulations to the GFWC Tiptonville Woman's Club who is celebrating 75 years of service to the community in March 2003.

The Club has owned and operates the Tiptonville Public library for 52 years at its present site. Prior to that, the Library was in the home of a club member.

HINT: You can see some photos larger by clicking on them.

Flossie Heshelman, the GFWC Kingston Woman's Club's oldest member passed away on Tuesday, November 27 in Franklin, Indiana. She was 95 years old and although she had moved away, she held membership in our club because she really believed in the work of Federation and liked to receive our monthly Newsletter and the TF News. She had been active at the State and District II Board level for a number of years and had many friends across the state. It would be appropriate for our members who knew her to send a memorial to the Tennessee Endowment Fund in her honor. She was a strong believer in the Fund and always supported it any way possible. Thanks to Dorothy Skinner for sending this sad news.

Donates Video Tapes to Library

In recognition of October as Learning Disabilities Month, the Janusette Delphian Club, District 8, is doing its part. The club donated to the public library two video tapes, "When Stars Read," featuring Dr. Reid Lyon, director of Child Development, National Institute of Health; and "The Unwrapped Gift," produced by the Herefordshire, England, Dyslexic Artists group. Several members of the club participated in the annual used book sale at the library: Gay Nichols, who manages the bookstore, Joy Kriesky, and Mary Ashley Morris. Mary Sue Leach, Learning Disabilities Chairman, also serves as regional vice president for the Tennessee Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. She is working with board members of IDA to encourage them to present programs on learning disabilities to the GFWC clubs in their areas. At the GFWC Janusette Delphian Club meetings each month, she is presenting a capsule of information in continuing education for club members.

Our HOBY representative, Sam McDaniel, presented an interesting report on his attendance at the leadership conference in September. Although we will no longer be associated with HOBY, the club is pleased that GF of TN will still be a part of promoting leadership in our youth through the Tennessee Leadership Seminar organization.
