Lana's Letter

Whew! It’s finally behind us – the SER meeting, of course. The ladies of GFWC of Tennessee did an outstanding job of hosting the event. Lest I forget someone, I will not attempt to name all of you who deserve special thanks for your efforts. Every single one who worked on this did a remarkable job and there are no words adequate to express my appreciation to you for making us look so good. I have had many complimentary notes from those in attendance.

We missed those of you who were unable to join us. We were honored to have our International President, Judith Lutz with us. She inspired us all with her enthusiasm and energy. This will be her only visit to Tennessee during her administration so I’m especially sorry that many of you missed it.

Since that meeting, I have had many emails from members in other states expressing their concern about the tornadoes. Babs Condon, President of GFWC Maryland met with her board and they voted to make a very generous donation to Mt. Division. My thanks to Babs and the ladies in Maryland for remembering our Tennessee victims.

While so many members of our GFWC Board of Directors were together, I called a special meeting to consider making Tennessee Leadership Seminar a project of GFWC of Tennessee. Your Board voted unanimously for adoption. You will find details from Joan Beaver and a page for the handbook elsewhere in this edition. Joan has agreed to chair this project. She was serving as Chairman of Women’s History and Resource Center so that position will be filled by Charlotte Dean. Charlotte is the sister of our TF News Editor, Anne Babin. She will do a great job. She is always present at Conventions and Conferences and is just a dedicated clubwoman. You can also read more about her in this edition.

By the time this reaches you, it will almost be time to begin reporting. It is my hope to have 100% of our clubs report now that GFWC has given us a “fill in the blanks” form that makes it so simple. There is no reason that every club cannot have someone go through its minutes and checkbook and write down the programs, projects, etc. Of course, those who want to be considered for awards must include a narrative. So Club Presidents, be sure your dues are paid and that any donations you want to be counted are made by December 31st.

I wish all of you and your loved ones a richly blessed Holy Season.
In Federation Love,

Lana
