Jo's Jottings -- Jo Webb, Treasurer
Happy Holidays to One and All If you are like me, it is difficult to find time to keep up with all the records and deadlines at this time of year. I can sympathize with anyone who says "I just couldn't find the time." But truth be told, I received several club reports with postmarks of 12/3 and 12/5. I'm so sorry, but these clubs just can't claim bonus points on the Club Rating Guide. However, the good news is that these clubs will indeed be eligible for awards, because they have certainly gotten their reports in before the January 15 deadline. Which reminds me to take one more opportunity this year to badger the rest of you to be sure that you get your reports in before this final deadline. I hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful Christmas, and let's all look forward with hope to a peaceful and prosperous New Year. GFWC Brandywine Woman's Club Adopts State Route 45

Members of GFWC Brandywine Woman's Club recently adopted Old Hickory Boulevard (State Route 45) which runs through the tiny incorporated town of Lakewood. The members spent a day picking up litter along the busy highway and have obligated themselves to cleaning it up at least four times a year.
Lakewood police patrolled the area to make sure the area was safe while the club members worked on the project which was through the state's Adopt a Highway project. "We received quite a few thank yous, " Wooden said. GFWC Brandywine Hosts Invitational
GFWC Brandywine Woman's Club held its second annual Golf and Bridge Invitational on Sept. 9 at the Farm Lakes Golf Course in Old Hickory. A total of 76 golfers and 32 bridge players took part in the competition. All prizes were contributed by individuals and there were also corporate donations. The event, the club's primary fundraiser, made approximately $4000.00. The proceeds will be used to fund the club's projects: academic scholarships for area high school seniors, summer reading program affiliated with the Pencil Partners and domestic violence awareness and prevention.
