Jo's Jottings
GF of TN Treasurer Jo Webb Greetings Fellow Members! Well, January 15 came and went - and how tough was it for me to get dues payments postmarked Jan. 18 and Jan 20? There are a very few clubs from which I haven't heard yet. On February 7, I remitted the Federation dues to Washington for 2660 members in the state. I sent the report and check by certified mail, and had the new experience of tracking it online to see when it was delivered. GFWC got it at 2:04 p.m., February 10. As I understand the instructions I received, this number of members in the State will determine the number of voting delegates Tennessee will be allowed at the International Convention this year. I have been provided with two more copies of the report for GF, and I am to send in any dues which are subsequently collected. This will be for any Clubs paying late, or for any new members which come in to Clubs following January 15. So, as Club Treasurers, PLEASE collect the full amount of dues for any new members, proudly report them, and remit the amount for the State and GFWC dues to me when you do. Thanks to all of you who filled out the Treasurer's Report page provided in the State Handbook. It certainly helped me in seeing to it that your monies were allocated properly. With the help of previous State Treasurers (on whom I frequently call) I can safely report that we are on track and the books are in good shape.
MEMBERSHP - Johnnie Hill
The very existence of GFWC is dependent on its members. Without members we are nothing. As clubwomen, we must ensure that our meetings are informative and fun to attend. No one wants to go to a meeting that's boring, lengthy, and repetitive. Try to socialize and network with each other to make your club members feel welcome. The three membership goals in the 2002-2003 Strategic Plan are: Stability, Identity, and Diversity. At every level of Federation, these can be categorized into Retention, Recruitment, and Revitalization. Help grow your membership by keeping these things in your mind - ALL THE TIME! Membership is every member's responsibility. We need to work together to keep GFWC a leader in volunteer community service. Membership numbers in Tennessee have fallen drastically in the last several years. Let's try not to lose any more valuable volunteer leadership. THANKS for all the reports you have sent me. See ya at Convention! Johnnie "Even if you're on the right track,
