The Real Thing -- Or Fake? A friend of mine recently went on an extended trip to Germany. Upon her return she brought me a gorgeous silk scarf. When she brought it to me she said, "Now this is genuine -- the real thing." We chuckled and I thanked her for the lovely gift. Every time I wore the scarf, folks would comment on it. Many would ask where I got it, and another said "That is no fake." Now, she could have bought it at the local ladies department store or at Goodwill but she said she got it in Germany. I believe her. My brother recently sent me a large bottle of real vanilla from Mexico. Oh, how wonderful it is. Very Strong, One only has to open it and smell to know it is the real thing. It will last me for years, so I will never, ever have to buy Imitation Vanilla. Have you ever had real coffee straight from Africa or one of the islands? If so, you know the difference in the real thing, straight from the coffee groves from coffee you buy in your local grocery store. I have a recipe for a Ritz Cracker Pie. Have you ever made it? Now it tastes exactly like an apple pie but it doesn't have one apple in it. It is a fake apple pie. Look at your life. Examine your Bible study practices, your prayer time with God or your daily activities. Do you see the Real Thing, or is it something you need to work on? Are there some fake characteristics that can be improved on? God wants our time, talents, and commitment to living a dedicated Christian life each and every day. GFWC Dyersburg Woman's Club
News from GFWC Dyersburg: The Literary Department of the Dyersburg Woman's Club held the third annual Game Day on January 22. Women from all over the area assembled at the clubhouse for games of bridge, Rook, Rummikub, Hand and Foot. A delicious chili and cornbread lunch was served. along with home-made pie for dessert.
