Tidbits From THE CLUBWOMAN
Congratulations to the GFWC DYERSBURG Womans Club on their 90th Anniversary! (April/May, page 54, The Clubwoman) Volunteers in Action (April/May, page 53) TENNESSEE: The GFWC Bellevue Womans Club has chosen to preserve a cabin that dates back to the 1790s. Confident that this historic cabin will be a significant asset for the community, the club has worked hard to secure its longevity. They donated $500 in 2001, and another $700 in 2002. They raised money by selling pecans. (June/July, page 14) Last fall, the GFWC Ossoli Circle (Tenn) began its Khaki Pants project, providing khakis and non-skid shoes to women who have fled from domestic violence. Apparently, the first jobs available to women in these circumstances are often in the food industry and these require khaki pants and non-skid shoesitems that women leaving an abusive situation have not had the time to bring with them.
