Child Life Therapy Toy Boxes
Kendra W Patty, International Affairs Outreach for Children Chair

Operation Smile will accept new and gently used stuffed animals, arts and crafts, supplies, liquid bubbles and other toys to help with screening, for pre-surgical and post-surgical play therapy, and to leave with the hospitals which are in great need of supplies for their pediatric departments.

It is VERY important that no items included in your supplies have any religious symbols. Operation Smile does not accept war-related toys (guns, tanks, and military action figures)

Toys that have wide appeal for a range of ages and abilities are the best.
The following supplies are welcomed for use for this program:
Interactive Toys: Action figures, Barbie’s, barrettes, board games, cars, dolls, fisher price toys, Frisbees, jump ropes, puppets, puzzles, soft balls, wind up toys.
Arts & Crafts: chalk, children’s scissors, coloring books, construction paper, crayons, ink pads, pipe cleaners, play dough, stamps, stickers, tissue paper, water paints & brush.

This is just a short list of items. If you have questions about items call Kendra at 865-938-7779 or e-mail at kendrawpatty@juno.com.

Send Child Life Therapy Toy Boxes to

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DICKSON COUNTY!

Dickson County is celebrating it's Bicentennial this year and the GFWC Dickson County Woman's Club is taking part.

On October 25, 2003, the Dickson County Bicentennial Committee unveiled a portrait by former Tennessee Artist in Residence (1990-2000) Michael Sloan titled "Two Hundred Years of Family." Included within the portrait are governors, doctors, judges, and other community leaders who shaped the county's history.
GFWC-DCWC proudly sponsored "Miss Dockie" Shipp Weems who was a founding member of The Twentieth Century Club, our club's predecessor. Miss Dockie was instrumental in the formation of the Dickson County Public Library. She was an educator and noted speech teacher who helped mold her nephew, Frank G. Clement (41st and 43rd Governor of Tennessee, into a dynamic orator.

eGFWC Update on ACT in OCT

Dear GFWC Members,

Not only did you ACT in OCT - you prACTically KNOCT our SOCTs off! Your response to the new GFWC nationwide membership recruitment campaign has been nothing short of fantastic. THREE CHEERS and a loud DRUM ROLL for the 207 clubs in 39 states that have already reported -- 1146 NEW GFWC MEMBERS!
Each of these clubs will be recognized for their recruiting prowess in the Feb/Mar 2004 issue of GFWC Clubwoman magazine. They have dramatically proven that it can be done!
Most importantly, it's not too late to tell us of your own club's success. The deadline for reporting new members recruited in October in an ACT in OCT ACTivity is DECEMBER 1. Just send a note, a fax or an email to:
GFWC ACT in OCT, 1734 N Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036
Email: dgladstone@gfwc.org FAX: 202-835-0246

Include the name of the club, the city/state where the club is located and the number/names of new members.

Again, many thanks to all our successful recruiters. This is great!
