Chairman
WHAT does the GF of TN HISTORIAN do?
The Historian compiles a history of the organization using clippings, pictures, news items, and things like that, which YOU contribute. IF one of your members has done something newsworthy - cut out the clipping and send it to Jamie. When you contribute an item about a member, that members accomplishments are preserved for posterity. Always remember to put the name of your Club and your District on the item. Look in your 2002-2004 GF of TN HANDBOOK, page 73, for more ideas. Your actual Club History is the one
you send to Womens History and Resource Center in Washington.
Also bring a copy of your club histories to Spring Convention. There
will be a box near the registration table for you to place them in.
We will then take all your histories to the State Archives. If your
club cannot attend the convention, please send them by your district
president or mail them to my home address. (Your WHRC reports go
to So check with your members, look in the scrapbook you have made, in the minutes of your meetings, newspapers, etc., and pick out the things you and your members have accomplished or been involved in, and include them when you write your report to Jamie Sipes, 520 Peavine Road, Middleton TN 38052. The club recently met at Jo Ann Etc.,
in Cool Springs, for a sewing session where fifty-one childrens
hospital gowns were completed for Operation Smile. Operation Smile
is a private, not-for-profit medical service organization which provides
life-changing reconstructive surgery to children and adults in developing
countries as well as uninsured American Children. These completed
gowns will be distributed around the world. INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHT: Two ladies were talking. One was telling the other how busy she had been that week cleaning out her parents house of years of possessions. She stated that she had gone through tons of books, giving some away, selling some and putting some in the garbage. She said "There was even an old Bible written by Guttenbury." Her friend said "Oh, no, that Bible is very valuable. It was written in 1612 by Guttenberg. I know it would sell for at least $500,000." The other lady said "Ah,
this one would not have been worth anything for some idiot by the
name of Martin Luther had written all over it." Health Lets thank God for all the precious things in life that often we take for granted or do not realize their worth.
