EDITORIAL
THERE was so much
information in LANAS LETTER for this issue, that it needed to
be highlighted on the FRONT PAGE !
PLEASE pay strict attention to your Reporting Deadlines, and the chairman
who should receive these reports. IF youre not sure who to send
a report to, check the GF of TN Handbook, or ask your District President.
WHY do we Report, anyway? OK, consider this: WHY do you put your Club News and pictures in your local newspaper? Isnt it so friends and neighbors will be aware of the presence and activities of your organization in your community.?
SO....it is important to tell GFWC what you are doing and what you have done in your community so everyone will know how much of an impact WE are making at home.
IN the Survey elsewhere in this issue, you reported that COMMUNICATION is important to the well-being of GFWC Clubs in Tennessee. IS your Club subscribing to The CLUBWOMAN? Are you 100% in subscribing to the TFNEWS? These are two tools for Communication that should be utilized in the life of your Club. Send your articles and pictures to the TFNEWS and to The CLUBWOMAN !
On Membership: Are
you encouraging your members to invite friends to join with you in
your club? The only way any organization can remain viable is to grow.
New members bring new ideas, energy and inspiration. Invite a friend
today! There may be a lady down the street whos just wishing
someone would include her in the fun theyre having.
Dont forget to mark your calendars for the 2004 GFWC of Tennessee
Convention, April 23-25 at Gatlinburg. Lana promises that this one
will be lots of fun. IF you have never been to Convention, or if youve
not been to Gatlinburg in a long time, THIS is the year to do it.
See you there!

GFWC/Operation Smile -- Partners in Service
Operation Smile is a private, not-for-profit volunteer medical services organization providing reconstructive surgery and related health care to indigent children and young adults in developing countries and the US. Operation Smile provides education and training around the world to physicians and other health care professionals to achieve long-term self-sufficiency.
Since 1982, Operation Smile has provided reconstructive surgery to thousands of children born with cleft lip and palate deformities, tumors and burn scar contractors in developing countries.
Operation Smile provides training and
education for health care professionals in the mission countries,
to achieve a sustainable and self-sufficient program. They also provide
medical supplies and equipment for the surgeons trained by Operation
Smile, who continue to provide reconstructive surgery throughout the
year. Operation Smile also helps hundreds of American children.
Dr. Bill Magee, a plastic surgeon and his wife Kathy, a nurse and
social worker founded operation Smile in 1982, after a medical mission
with some friends in the Philippines. They saw the great need to return
to that country to help the children.
For the past 15 years GFWC have been involved and helping Operation
Smile.
Operation Smile continues to need doctors, nurses, speech therapists, child life specialists, office help and pediatric intensivists on each mission. Those interested in participating in a medical position can contact Christopher Dunn at cdunn@operationsmile.org or 757-321-7681 to request an application.
