Mr. Melaas is Germantown's new Parks Development Administrator. Also pictured is Elmire Phillips, Conservation Chairman of the club.
"Our club is looking forward to working with Dave on this long term project at Turtle Bayou. His new outlooks, ideas, and suggestions will certainly energize our participation as we develop the aquatic garden there," said Mrs. Phillips.
The Club adopted the Turtle Bayou Project three years ago. The plan is to develop a learning area for visitors and students. An aquatic garden, featuring indigenous plants and wildlife in a naturalized environment, is the project's ultimate goal.
"Flooding the first year caused major damage to the plants, so it is our hope to reestablish the original plantings and enhance the area further. The concession stand fundraiser at the Festival of Fun and Fright in October was successful and our club is grateful to the Parks and Recreation Department for their encouragement and support," said Phillips.

GFWC Woman’s Club of Hendersonville recently sponsored "A Monte Carlo Affair" on Saturday November 1st at Blue Grass Country Club. The evening was filled with something for everyone to enjoy. Casino games with Casino Bucks, Live & Silent Auctions, fabulous food, dancing, and lots of door prizes.
