LANA’S LETTER

Where has the time gone? It seems only yesterday I was filling board positions and here we are now on the last leg of this administration. Again, I thank all of you for your outstanding leadership and support. I also implore you to turn your attention to Mary Love as she undertakes the task of creating a board for the 2004-2006 administration. There are many new and exciting changes planned and your leadership is a must if our great GFWC of Tennessee is to maintain its outstanding position.

Your GFWC of Tennessee delegation had a marvelous time in Baltimore at the Southeast Regional in November. The Maryland girls outdid themselves hosting the event. I know President Bette Brust was bursting with pride at the job her home state members did. Maryland’s President, Babs Condon, despite her son’s just having had his kidney transplant, was there for every event. In my opinion, that says all there is to say about being committed to GFWC. Thanks, Babs!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in case you haven’t checked your calendars -- IT’S REPORTING TIME AGAIN! I know you have your revised guidelines / deadlines handy, but I must remind all state level Department Chairmen and Special Projects Chairman to send your report to me by March 8, 2004. DO NOT SEND YOUR REPORT TO YOUR GFWC COUNTERPART BEFORE YOU HAVE SENT IT TO ME. Please include a copy of all of the narratives you received for judging. If you are unable to prepare your report and have it to me by March 8, 2004, bundle all the reports you received, both statistical and narrative and I will have them judged for you. There will be no acceptable excuse for not having these reports on time.

Included in this publication is an application for the GFWC LEADS program. Club presidents, if you have not already requested this form from Debbie Gladstone at GFWC Headquarters, please copy the enclosed one and select a candidate now. The deadline for having our candidate to GFWC is March 1, 2004. Please forward your completed forms to me by February 1st and I will distribute them to the selection committee. GFWC has provided us with such a great program for encouraging leadership in our organization that it would be shameful not to take advantage. I would love a candidate from each club.

Once again, I want to remind you of our Annual Convention in Gatlinburg April 23-25, 2004. This is going to be such a fun time. Our special guest will be GFWC Treasurer Mary Ellen Laister who will install our officers. In addition to installing our state officers, this time we are going to have a special installation for our district presidents. Complete information will be in the next issue of TF News, but mark your calendars now. YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS THIS ONE!

In Federation Love,
Lana
