LOVE NOTES |
Pat's Ponderings Dear Federation Friends, My, I've been caught in a whirlwind since the GFWC of TN Spring Convention! In June I attend the GFWC International Convention in Orlando and was thrilled to learn that our own GFWC of TN Dickson Woman's Club had won first place in the Community Improvement Project! July found me motoring down to Cookeville for our summer board meeting. Now, I'll soon be heading to Washington, D.C. for the GFWC Board meeting and then it will be time to head back to Cookeville for our Fall Conference on September 24-26. Gee, I think I'd better keep my suitcase packed for the next two years! I would like to encourage all GFWC of TN Clubs, Generals as well as juniors, to take part in the juniors' Special Project: Advocates for Children. This is the one Junior Project that Generals can also report in. It is also one of my special emphasis areas; I chose it because as a teacher, children are my passion and because it is a project that we all can participate in. Please look in the GFWC Handbook for project ideas then develop a plan that will serve your community's children's needs. One of the suggested project ideas under Advocates for Children just happens to be to start or support a Juniorette Club. This also just happens to be included in my goals for this administration. I hope that two new Junior clubs, or departments and two new Juniorette clubs will have been formed by 2006. There is a particular need for Junior clubs or departments in the Greater Metropolitan Nashville area and there are no Juniorette clubs in Tennessee. I will be discussing these plans further at fall conference and as I travel to your Districts. It will take the help and cooperation of you all to make this dream a reality I look forward to seeing you in Cookeville on September 24. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything that I can do for you or your club. Junior Love, JANE WILSON
