GFWC of TN Knoxville Woman's Club Open New Library

On July 8 the General Federation of Women's Club Knoxville Woman's Club (KWC) held the ribbon cutting for the opening of a new library at the Richard Bean Juvenile Detention Center. The library was named in honor of Thomas G. Brown, the chairman of the center's board of trustees and for the Knoxville Woman's Club.

The Knoxville Woman's Club collected over 2000 books, bookshelves, computer and flags for the new library. The new library will serve the Juveniles in the Detention Center whose age ranges from 12-18 years old.

"We have received a great deal of community support to complete this project. The KWC is very excited about being able to help the Juvenile Detention Center and help enrich the lives of the juveniles." said Mary Frances Edwards Club President.

Remarks and presentations at the dedication were made by Mary Frances Edwards, GFWC of TN Knoxville Woman's Club President; Carolyn Jensen from the Office of Senator Bill Frist; Jane Chedester from the Office of Senator Lamar Alexander; Jenny Stansberry from the Office of Congressman John Duncan; Randy Tyree from the Office of Governor Phil Bredesen, and Terry Brown Juvenile Court Supervisor.
