Whale of a Program
GFWC Hendersonville WC

GFWC Woman’s Club of Hendersonville kicks off its WHALE ™ Program.
“We Have A Little Emergency Here”. Whale™ is a child identification program that attaches emergency information to child safety seats, giving emergency personnel vital information in the event the driver of the vehicle is incapacitated. Currently 35 states are participating in this National Highway Department Program.

The WHALE™ program requires the use of one label and four self-adhesive stickers. The information label is attached to the back of the car safety seat out of normal view. Four W.H.A.L.E.™ logo stickers are attached to either side of occupants car seat and the rear windows of the vehicle in order to alert rescuers that the vehicle occupants participate in this program.

The Woman’s Club of Hendersonville is working with local emergency personnel to make them aware of the importance of this program. The kits are now available from the main office of the Fire Department as well as the Chamber of Commerce. Also, they will be available at the Rotary’s Festival by the Lake at the Community Child Care tent.

GFWC Centennial W. C.

Members of the GFWC Centennial Woman's Club present a check for the Richard A. Kribs III Psychology Scholarship Fund, in the amount of $1,500.00, to Marcia Kribs, club secretary and widow of the associate professor of psychology in whose honor the scholarship was established. Shortly after Rick's unexpected and untimely death from a brain aneurysm in November of 2003, the members of GFWC Centennial Woman's Club voted unanimously to stage the first major fundraiser in the club's history to raise funds in his memory. After months of planning, the fundraiser fashion show was staged at Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg where Marcia is the biology lab coordinator, and where Rick had taught for many years. Every member of GFWC Centennial Woman's Club participated in the fundraiser. The presentation of the check was made at the September 2004 meeting at the home of Sandie Simms.

L to R: Renee Keene, Fundraiser Chairperson; Ann Waggoner, Treasurer; Marcia Kribs, Secretary, and Kate Lapczynski, President, GFWC Centennial Woman's Club of Tullahoma.
