REPORTS ARE DUE TO CHAIRMEN BY FEBRUARY 15, 2002. MAIL EARLY. Avoid the rush!

Susan Speaks—GFWC of TN President

Happy New Year! I hope each of you enjoyed your holiday season and the many opportunities to share with family and friends. I appreciate all of the cards and e-mails I received with holiday good wishes and cheer. As we step into the new year of 2002, there is one additional task needed to put 2001 into the past. GFWC, the Tennessee Federation, and I need to know what club women did as volunteers to be of benefit to your communities. I hesitate to use the word ‘reporting’, but I know of no other way to encourage you to share your many success stories of 2001 as you “got involved for Tennessee’s success.”

Reports are due to district and state chairmen by Feb. 15th. Forms are in your state handbook/directory beginning on page 100.

Club presidents are encouraged to fill out the Club Rating Guide beginning on page 113 and mail to me and/or Della. On page 115, the due date is listed as February 1st. I will accept CRGs postmarked by Feb. 15th (just like your other reports). Districts receive recognition for having every club mail in a CRG. If you do no other reports, please do this one. There is valuable information that I compile and submit to GFWC to give them a more accurate picture of volunteerism in Tennessee.

For clarification purposes, on page 114 of your CRG, section Programs/Projects, give credit for each program (speaker, discussion, entertainment, etc.) by scoring your club 25 points EACH. For each project ($ donation, volunteer hours, etc.) score your club 50 points for EACH. Every time your club meets, does a volunteer project, or donates money qualifies as either a program or a project. Do not cheat yourself out of points. Club presidents will receive the club rating ribbon to wear at Spring convention.

Remember state leadership reports for General clubs are to be mailed to me and for Junior clubs to Della.

As soon as your club elects new officers, send page 120 of your handbook/directory to me. This information needs to be forwarded to GFWC as soon as possible. Materials for the new GFWC 2002-2004 Administration will be coming out this spring, and will be mailed to the President they have on record. If these materials reach your club before a new president is installed, PLEASE make sure you give the information to the new officer. Each club is mailed only one set of materials for each two year administration. It is critical that you provide these materials to the next club administration.

I look forward to hearing from each of you. Keep me informed so I can keep GFWC informed. SBM
