More from GFWC JCMC

The Monday Club of Johnson City has added email addresses to its Club Book. This is a great tool in assisting members in keeping close contact with each other, and will make the phone committee s job much easier.

Meeting twice monthly at the Johnson City Public Library with lunch catered by member Jean Carter has allowed the membership to learn about everything from Senior Center Programs to Med Tech Marketing..

Mary Martin, who is co chair of Home Life Department presented each attendee at the November 19th meeting with a loaf of homemade bread.

Dr Wreatha Terry, who heads up the Teddy Bear Committee collected over 300 teddy bears for members to dress and present to the Salvation Army. She also had son Brendt to dress up as a life-size teddy bear and present certificates to the members who dressed the bears. This was a most outstanding program.

The working together, getting to know the members and their intelligent positive attitudes has made being president of this group one of the best and most challenging events that I have enjoyed.

GFWC BELLEVUE WOMAN’S CLUB

INTERNATIONAL DINNER

A SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER

The GFWC Bellevue Woman's Club in Nashville TN held an international dinner recently saluting Great Britain, with funds raised for two club projects. British and Scottish recipes were prepared by the club for the members, spouses and guests. Scones and British hot tea opened the event. Dishes included shepherd's pie, curried peas and rice, barley with mushrooms (Scottish), broiled tomatoes, vegetable medley and Yorkshire pudding. Desserts were English berry trifle and a SMILE cake, which was donated by the local Albertson's Grocery.

SMILE is an international GFWC Women's Club project which provides surgery for 3rd-world children for palates and other deforming conditions. This surgery is provided by volunteer medical doctors.
The second project is Libraries 2000, another GFWC Women's Club project which raises funds for school and public libraries. The Bellevue Woman's Club has contributed over $5,000 to area libraries. Funds provided at this dinner will go to Bellevue Middle School (Nashville) to purchase international books.

$?$? KAREN’S KOINER ?$?$

I don't have much to report this issues except to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to all club presidents and treasurers who paid dues this year in a such a timely fashion. We had an overwhelming majority of you to pay before the end of 2001. That will make dues submission to GFWC a lot less time-consuming.

Thank you, too, for using the treasurer's report form. We have had much less confusion this year and I think our being able to talk at the region meetings may have helped with that.

Hope you have a Happy and Successful Springtime! As always, if you have any questions, just give me a call.

In Federation, Karen
