Marie Gideon, member of GFWC Knoxville WC, new First Lady of Knoxville

Congratulations to Marie Gideon-- the new First Lady of Knoxville. She was introduced by Alpha Council of Beta Sigma Phi at a dinner in January 2002 at Bearden Banquet Hall. Shown in the picture are a couple of the 85 'love stockings' she made for the children left motherless or fatherless in the Sept. 11 tragedy, which were taken to New York by the assistant chaplain of the Knoxville Fire Department.

Marie is a 10-year member of GFWC Knoxville Woman's Club, which nominated for the honor. President Kendra Patty said, "Marie has touched so many lives, doing such wonderful things to help so many people." The Knoxville News-Sentinel article carried a Long list of Marie's activities in the club and the community.

Our hats are off to Marie Gideon. She's a "do-er", said Sheri Deitz, chairwoman of the First Lady Banquet.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The books for GFWC of Tennessee will be closed as of June 30, 2002. I would ask that any expenses or reimbursements you may have be turned in to the Treasurer as soon as possible before that date so that I may have everything as close to order as possible by June 30. This will greatly expedite the audit of the books and get the funds as quickly as possible to the new administration.

I appreciate your timely attention and help with these matters. Thanks again for all your help and cooperation these last two years!
In Federation,
Karen

Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
- Winston Churchill

Sitting still and wishing
Makes no person great.
The good Lord sends the fishing,
But you have to dig the bait.
